Default desperate for your words!

Please help! I'm at a loss of words for the first time in my life!
My fiance and I are getting married in my backyard with just my children and a justice of the peace. We'd like to send out an announcement after, including a picture of all of us to our close friends and family. I have no idea how to announce our marriage that will include my children, and also state that we are just "announcing it" not looking for gifts. We don't want anything too formal, perhaps even humorous would be good. I'm open to all suggestions. Thanks for your help!

to mgw firstly!

I'm not sure I actually have that many ideas..! You could get a nice pic of you all together, and have it printed on cards to send to people... Or maybe to involve your children (I'm assuming they're kinda young?) you could get them to write something informal about mum & dad getting married... Not being much help am I?! Help, someone with kids needed!

Jo,
Thanks for the reply. My children are 19, 13 year old twins, and 8. He has no children. We're definitely sending a picture with the announcement, but are at a loss of words to send along with it. The kids don't have any ideas either. We're still very close to the children's father, and don't want to offend him in any way. I better come up with something soon, it's only a couple of weeks away! How's this??

OK, scrap the cute kiddy scribbles then! I think if it was me I'd probably find some greeting cards I liked, not necessarily wedding-related, just a design I liked... and write something inside along the lines of:
TammySue & Brendan are happy to announce their marriage on (date), we celebrated the occasion with names-of-children - here is a photo of us all on the special day (etc...)

You know what I mean..! I don't think that has any underlying tones of "give us presents now!" does it? You can make it sound better than that, obviously...

I've seen this done before, and I thought it was a really nice way of letting people know.

It was a card with a black and white pic printed on the front, and it had "Introducing Mr and Mrs Brown and Jacinta. 25 June 2001." There was one child involved and she was in the picutre too. If you wanted, you could do this type of thing with all the kids full names to not offend anyone. The inside was a personal note basically saying that they had celebrated their marriage with each other, god, and their children by their side, and some sort of invitation to visit or catch up.

Does that help at all?
