Default Dress adaptation - Sleeves or not?

Hello everyone, my first dress fitting is soon, and I need to decide whether to have the sleeves removed from my dress or not. I really didn't want sleeves but really really wanted a v neck dress. In the end I found my v neck dress and the shop said it would be dead easy to remove the sleeves. Thing is they are not that bad so should I do it? The shop has even said they can make the removable so I can wear them in church - but I think that is when you make the dramatic entrance so I doubt people will notice if I took them off for the reception. Any way can you look at the dress (or if someone is really lovely could they post the picture up - I have no idea!) and tell me what you think.
http://www.alfredangelo.com/default.htm it's style 1560 or the dress on the first page with the BMs in green.

I'm gona try and post a poll.
thanks
Eleanor

That is a really lovely dress. It does look gorgeous with the sleeves but I can see what you first thought about having a sleeveless v neck dress.

I can imagine it without the sleeves and I think it would look very classy. A bit like some of those dresses you see in films.

I say have them removed. Your first instinct was probably right.

Hope this helps.

Hi

I think you should go with what you thought initially. But bear in mind that it might take you by surprise.

My dress originally had straps, and I had it made strapless instead. I think I'm pleased with it but I'm still not convinced.

If you can have them as detatchable sleeves, I would definately go for it.

But it really is lovely as it is!

PS I love the BM dress colour! A bit like one I have.

Yep, absolutely beautiful dress.

The trouble with buying wedding dresses is that most people (myself included) go out with an image of what they would like to wear and end up buying something completely different.

Are you happy with it having sleeves? If so, it might be wise not to change it.

However, if you feel really strongly about losing the sleeves then I say go for it. Remember thought that the slightest change to a dress can dramatically change your concept of how 'nice' it looks on you.

Good luck

D

Hope that didn't sound too serious!

I'm sure you'll look lovely no matter what you do with it.

Personally I think it looks lovely with the sleeves.. but if you are going to find that half way through your day they are annoying you I'd have them removed.

Is it possible for you to go for your fitting, try it on again and then decide., or do you have to decide before then? You might find that you really like it with the sleeves if you could try it on again, or you might think 'No, got to have them taken off!"

Bianca, I have to decide at the fitting, so I will get to try it on again before I decide. What I am worrying about is what Dawnie says - what if I actually prefer it with the sleeves and then they are gone. That is why the shop suggested detachable ones but they are never going to look the same. Anyway i have until 5th June so I'll let you know what I decide.

well I liked the idea of having them detachable! I think people will notice the change you make for the reception, and it'll be like having two dresses for the price of one. And lets face it if we had the choice we'd all like two dresses to keep changing between - well I would anyway!

My first choice would be to have them detachable, my second choice would be to have it sleevless.

I like the dress with the sleeves, but if it's not what you were after than it's your choice! Detachable sleeves are a good idea too, as it's been said, 2 dresses for the price of 1 !!

Good luck with the fitting
