Default A Wedding!

Not mine lol My littlest brother (he's 21) is getting married to his fab girlfriend and I'm so happy for them!

He proposed in such a lovely way too... they had been out for a walk on the pennines and found some big old standing stones which people over the years had carved their names into. So him and his mate went back up there and carved "will you marry me?" into the rock. He took his gf up there there week after, let her notice it, and when she turned round he was on one knee with the ring in his hand... awwww. The ring has a story too. When he was little he found a diamond ring (we used to call him magpie - he was always finding things). After no one claiming it my mum kept it - had it valued at around £600. So my mum offered it him back, seemed as though he had found it for a reason and my mum was just keeping it safe all these years. Kate (the gf) is overwhelmed with it - she's not materialistic atall and such a gorgeous girl.

Anyway, they've set the date for the 11th October, in the church where I got married and where my kids were christened. They are having a small do, as cheap as they can, as my brother is leaving the army this month so money will be tight. They have managed to book a lovely room in the cricket club for £120 quid, including a buffet, but we are all trying to think of ways to get things done more cheaply. I've offered to do their stationary, they will probably get an M & S cake as she knows someone who will decorate it for her. My brother is dead set on top hat and tails so they are trying to find those for a decent price for him, the best man and my other brother.

Have you any other ideas for budget weddings? I'm out of practice lol

I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;
Because children grow up while you're not looking,
There are years ahead for cleaning and cooking.
So, quiet now cobwebs go to sleep.
I'm nursing my baby, and babies don't keep.
