I had a pro, and the result was excellent. I knew I'd be too flustered if I had to worry about doing my own makeup.

The other good thing was she had all the professional and expensive stuff which really did make a difference. It stayed on all day, and I only had to re-apply lippy after the wedding breakfast!

If you are going to do your won, it may be worth investing in good quality make up. I paid £110 for 3 faces ( ) but i know their rates vary and £35-£40 is about average.

Hope this helps

I'm planning on doing my own!

I don't wear much make-up and am just paranoid that I wouldn't look like me if someone else did my make up!!!

I'm going to get looking for the correct colours etc, possibly even have an official make up thing done at a counter so it looks good in the piccies but I'll do it myself on the day!

I am just a bit concerned that If I do it myself, It won't show up in the piccies...
My friend had hers done with a pro the other day and she said that she will have to get used to wearing so much otherwise it won't show in the piccies
I don't normally wear much on a normal day, if any...

I'm not sure about this one yet.....my CBM is a qualified beautician and has offered to do my make-up so we are going to have a trial 1st. She says she wont be offended if I want to do it myself as she knows from experience some people hate having someone do it for them.

I told my pro I didn't want a heavy look as I have the evil greasy t-zone !!!

She used a little foundation to smooth out the skin, dusted a light coat of powder and concentrated on colour on the eyelids and lips. It wasn't at all heavy, but have 2/3 sessions just in case.

Definately doing my own. And the idea that you have to wear a heap of make-up for it to show in the pics is nonsense - I'm a photographer and I've never heard of this. Heavy make-up will show as heavy make-up!

My CBM (sister) is a qualified hairdresser and make-up artist so she will be doing mine

I'm a real fusspot as well, I hardly wear any make up at all really (just basic eye and lip make up) so I'm lucky I have someone I can trust, otherwise would do my own

LOL

Default pro for me!

hi, I am having a pro as I am bloody hopeless at putting makeup on! I get as far as the foundation and eyeliner - ahve never in my life put mascara on or blusher. I want to look natural but not shiny within half an hour , therefore me thinks I would definetley be best not doing it!

I think I will probably stick to the idea of me doing my own...
I have tried a few different eye make ups with some natural colours that I have, which looked OK.

I may add some false individual eyelashes to strengthen the look around my eyes....

Hi

I am planning on doing my own, however I am having a make up lesson before hand. I want to do something different from normal so thought the lesson would be good to give me some ideas.

I think quite a few of the makeup counter ladies will do you face (as a trial) for a small fee. I think you then get this money back against anything you purchase.

See ya

Steph

A lot of Salons also offer you a lesson with a make up trial...

I wear make-up every day so am used to doing my own.

I would like to do my own, but am really really worried about waking up on the morning of my wedding with a huge spot or something and can't cover it up myself!

Am undecided about this, I might have a trial with someone and see how it goes and then decide.

To combat the spot problem, I am going to have a deep cleansing face mask every 4 days to ensure that by the time wedding day comes, there is nothing nasty left under my skin to POP up!

I had a trial make up at Elizabeth Arden and ended up looking like the Bride of Frankenstein! I then had one done at the Body Shop and it looked fantastic - really light, but you could see I was wearing makeup which was a first for me as I only wear mascara and lippy on a daily basis. The girl there said I should think about getting my eyebrows shaped, but she did a diagram of where everything goes and when and I bought most of the products - tried it out myself on Saturday and it looked really good (for a 1st attempt!) but I felt as though I had too much makeup on, even though I didn't look like I did, but that's only because I'm not used to it. I'll have another 3 or 4 attempts before the big day and see how I get on - I don't agree with having heavy makeup on just for the photos when you'll have to face all your guests looking like a painted lady, just for the benefit of the camera.........I think you should look like yourself and I haven't seen a wedding picture yet that didn't show the bride looking radiant, make up or not - remember you'll have a natural happy glow about you..........

I am doing my own too. I have not really thought about having a pro doing it. I am a complete girl when it comes to makeup, and am quite good at it, so I am fine with doing my own. My BM is very fussy about makeup, so she will do her own as well.

I was going to do my own but my friend said she would do it for me, she came to my house on Friday night and we had a trial run and the result was amazing, very natural and elegant which is what I wanted, so she will be doing it on the day.
