Default Wedding Colours/Themes

OK so I have been thinking about colour schemes and themes for my wedding. It's a very small wedding so I'm not going all out with a huge theme, I'm just going to incorporate one thing throughout my wedding, eg hearts or flowers or butterflies, (I'm really keen on butterflies at the minute), having them on invitations, favour boxes, table deorations, table plan etc. What do you think?

Also I'm loving a pink colour scheme at the minute. I love this bridesmaid dress - although it's a bit paler than I would like.

I would be worried about different shades of pink clashing, if I chose a pale pink for BM dress and a darker pink for flowers/invites/decorations. From the researching I have done so far, it's hard to get exact matching shades of pink on everything that needs to be pink.

I'd appreciate all your opinions.

Thanks.

A friend of mine had daisies as her theme - gerberas really. She had daisy embroidery on her bodice, gerberas as her bouquet and on the tables, and subtle things such as daisy buttons being used to close the ladies gifts.

As long as the shades you choose complement one another, and the theme makes you smile, then I'd go for it?

Oooh pink is lovely! I was at a wedding recently and they had hot pink dresses while the flowers were a mix of off white, pale pink and hot pink. I think as long as all the shades of pink blend with each other then its a beautiful scheme to go for! Also like the butterflies idea, didnt Colleen McLoughlin have butterflies on her favour boxes? Or may have been dragonflies!

Did she? Oh good grief don't tell me I'm copying Colleen McLoughlin. If only I had her money for my wedding budget I wouldn't complain.

Those dresses are beautiful K, thanks for the links. I'll have to show them to my BM and see what she thinks. I don't want to be dressing her in something she hates.

Yes she did. There were some on invites which were really pretty. And on the same day Kay had pink! I seem to remember she had a really nice bright pink.

Laura if you pick out your b/maid dress pink and any other pinks you want on the day and then take a sample of the colours to the florist they'll be able to help you pick the right shades of flowers to pull it together. I had an excellent florist last time who wouldn't even consider doing a wedding unless the bride was prepared to go for a proper appointment with her where she went through style of dress, colours etc to make sure the flowers were spot on. There were plenty who would just take an order for flowers on the day from me picking from a book but this one refused to do weddings that way. She came very highly recommended and once I met her I understood why. She did another wedding I went to and the bride wanted an exact shade of pink that she couldn't get. So she painted the flowers with some stuff they use - on the day you couldn't tell and it was only after that she told the bride what she'd done!

Pink is probably one of the best colours for NOT clashing. Pink loves Pink, so long as you dont fit flurecent sp? in.

Go to B&Q or Homebase and nick some paint sample cards, that should give you an idea of what matches.
