Default Can anyone help?

Hi there I am a new member to the forum and I have a bit of a dilemma. My boyfriend and I are very keen walkers and love all things Welsh (the beautiful scenery, the magnificent coastline and the very friendly people) so have decided it is the perfect place to get married. We have only just decided to do this after being together 2 and a half years and as we have both been married before, we wanted a very quiet affair. We are getting married on Christmas Eve at 12.00 at Dolgellau Registry Office but as we won't have any family or friends present we are a bit stuck as we need 2 witnesses. I am really looking forward to our day and I love the whole romantic notion of just slipping off quietly to do it but being someone who loves to organise and have everying sorted well in advance, this lack of witnesses is now beginning to worry me, so much so that I have started to have sleepless nights over it. My partner thinks I am worrying over nothing, and in his true male laid back "something will turn up" sort of way doesn't seem unduly concerned. I have sent various emails to organisations in the area (including BBC Wales) but so far have had no response. Has anyone been in the same predicament? Did you get it sorted in the end? Or is there anyone living in the area who would be prepared to spare us 10-15mins on Christmas Eve? I would be forever grateful!

Rowena

Hello and
I had a friend who did the same thing years ago and they just asked a couple of people passing in the street. Someone else I know asked the registry office in advance and they helped so it might be worth asking them. Good luck

oooooh A Christmas Eve wedding sounds lovely! Good choice!

I agree phone the reg office and see what they say. However I also think your boyfriend is right, on Christmas Eve people will be in such high spirits that anyone you ask on the street would be more than willing to help out, but like you I would want something sorted just in case

Plus there is no point leaving it to chance if you are worried, get on the phone and see what they say. Let us know how you get on....

Hi Everyone

Thanks so much for your replies and good wishes and for making me feel really welcome. I will ring the register office and see what they suggest. Thanks for that! I'll keep you posted.

Congratulations and welcome, or should I say Croeso. Try Radio Wales or Radio Cymru (the Welsh equivalent). If you're staying the night before I'm sure you could find a couple of volunteers in one of the local pubs? Good luck.
