Three months to go and I've had my first wedding mishap.
I ordered a bridesmaid dress online and have been waiting for it to be delivered to my house. So I got home from work today and there was still no sign of it. A few hours later my brother got home from work with a puncture, and while he was busy outside changing his tyre he noticed a parcel sitting on top of the BOILER in the garage. Turns out it is my bridesmaid dress. But I put the heating on when I got home, so the plastic wrapping the dress came in is melted and my dress is burnt!!
So not only did the half wit from R oyal M ail leave the parcel in the (wide open) garage, he left it on top of a boiler, which by the way, gets hot, he didn't leave a note through the door to say he had been and had left it in the garage. It was a recorded delivery package, but he didn't even bother getting it signed for, he just left it at his ass.
Yes I am angry about the dress being ruined, I can't even return it for a refund, but I guess I can try to get compensation from R oyal M ail, and I can order a new one. But what would have happened if my brother hadn't had a punture and hadn't found it when he did? What if no-one came home until later tonight? The thing would have caught fire and could have burnt the bloody house down!
I hope you can sort this out with the RM you deffo deserve compo for it.
I would have a word with the company who you bought it from though as they will prob have to claim their end as its usually down to the sender to do all the claim side rather than the receiver
Royal Mail will likely not help you at all. When I've had recorded stuff not arrive they've always told me it's up to the sender to sort out. Even when I had three recorded parcels not get here and I wanted an enquiry into it they refused to speak to me about it but just kept saying it was down to the sender.
The postman should never have left it unsigned for. A neighbour hasn't signed for it have they? What an arse the postman is doing that!
I think I may be tempted to contact the company and just say it hasn't arrived. Naughty yes but as you haven't signed for it then they can claim back at their end from RM without you having all the hassle of trying and probably getting nowhere.

If they sent it recorded delivery and you 'haven't received it', they can't prove you did as you didn't sign for it then I'm sure the company have to replace it and they claim from their 'haulier' in this instance RM. Surely it is not your issue with RM it's you claiming non receipt of an order you paid for.
It's not worth thinking about with what would have happened if you hadn't noticed it

Royal Mail are useless at the customer service side of things in cases like these. They swear that their postman don't do these things! We were away this weekend and got home to find a soggy parcel from amazon on the doorstep. The parcel was delivered by Royal Mail but when we contacted them to complain they just had excuses that it might not have been them and could have been a courier. I am not at all impressed.
I would contact the company and say you have not received it too.
Did they let you know when they were posting it to you?
If not and your gonna phone and say you havent recvd it i'd hang on a little bit longer Otherwise they might get suspicious if you happen to phone the very week they sent it out but you didnt know it was being sent in that week iyswim
Yeah I understand what you're all saying, but it's not a big company I bought from, it's just a private dressmaker, I think I'd feel a bit guilty pretending I never got it.
Anyway I have already contacted RM (well Mark did, I'm useless at the sort of thing) and there are 2 men coming out tomorrow to photograph my boiler. There is plastic from the packaging stuck on the box and the pipe, and I still have the melted remains of the plastic bag it came in. They know who it was who delivered to my house, he has admitted what he did and he has to go to a disiplinary meeting. The man Mark dealt with was a great help, he was as angry as I was.
At the end of the day, it's not an expensive dress, all I want is the money to buy a new dress.
