Update on FIL bypass operation... - Wedding Forum

Thanks to all of you who replied to my posting last week about H2B's dad having a heart attack...here's an update on what's been happening....

Previous to his heart attack he had never had any angina or other symptoms, or so we thought. Last year he had a kidney remoned because he had a malignant tumour which was picked up incidentally on an Xray he was having for other reasons. After the operation, he had a lot of complications with infection etc, and was therefore on a lot of different drugs. Some of these drugs were giving him indigestion, but we now think it was angina he was experiencing, so of course it was not investigated.

He is now due to have a triple heart bypass...he had to go all out didn't he

(his words not mine!) It was either going to be in the next couple of weeks or in 6 weeks time (around the time of the wedding). So of course I was panicking. But some good news...he is having the operation tomorrow! So fingers crossed he will come through it OK, and will be able to make it down for the wedding. H2B or his brother will go up to Scotland and drive him and their mum down, as he won;t be able to drive.

I am so glad things are looking up for him, we were all really worried about him, and he was so worried he would ruin the wedding! But now he should be feeling well enough by then to come down...even if he doesn't make it through the whole day, he will at least get to see the first of his sons get married.

Things aer at last picking up...and I feel a lot better

Oh good news!

I am glad he is having it so soon, means he can then get it over with and start recovering and feel healthy for your wedding.

I am sure he will be fine tomorrow - am sure we will all be thinking of him

Oh that's great news (in a weird kinda way!) Having the op tomorrow is so much better for you and the family, as well as FIL2B, coz you can help him recover, and having the wedding to look forward to will give him a focus!

Perhaps (if he is able) you might be able to have your in - laws fly down to you rather than drive? Mind you I am not sure what the policy is on flights so soon after open heart surgery - so maybe that isn't such a good idea as I first thought...:hmm:

I have done a quick search on www.easyjet.com and www.ryanair.co.uk. You could get 2 return flights for way less than £50 each - in fact it could be as little as £35 (including taxes).
