Question Civil wedding question

Someone has told me that the registrar takes the bride and groom into a room before the ceremony to speak to them. Can anyone tell me if this is right - I don’t really want Martin to see my dress until I’m walking down the aisle.

Thanks

Lis

Sorry, but this is true. I think you both need to confirm that you aren't married to anyone else etc!!!

It is a bit poo isn't it - we are having a civil ceremony. I am making my grand entrance working down the stairs of the hotel to greet all the guests. Perhaps you could make your grand entrance in the car or something similar.

Hi Lis

We are seeing our Registrar separately at the venue where we are getting married - you should be able to arrange this too, ask at your venue.

I also remember on the forms we send back to the Registrar with details of our vows, music, readings etc. there is a box you tick saying that you will see the registrar separately.

Hope this helps!

When is your day?

Doh, sorry for feeding you wrong info. I didn't know that - probably just didn't read the registrars info properly.

Good news though eh?!

Thanks everyone thats put my mind at rest. I thought it was going to be a bit daft not staying in the same house the night before if you ended up having to see each other before the wedding any way.

I'm normally never out of my jeans or trousers so I really want to wow him when I walk down the aisle.

Sue - we're getting married on the 8 March so only 247 days 2 hours and 45 minutes to go - not that I'm counting!!

They won't let us see him separately before hand. We both have to be there 30 mins before to do all the paperwork.

The not seeing the bride before the wedding thing is not traditional over here, and they didn't really see what I was getting at. Normally, the groom picks up the bride from her mothers house and they travel down to the ceremony together.

I wonder if I could go down there in my jeans, and then slip into my wedding frock in the loo just before the ceremony starts!

I'm glad I saw that............ I didn't know that happened, proves how much I've read the stuff the registrar sent me! I'll definatley by opting to see the registrar seperately at the hotel, don't want Matt seeing me before I've walked down the stairs etc!

Our registrar is happy just to see one of us so he'll chat to Bob before the ceremony.

I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;
Because children grow up while you're not looking,
There are years ahead for cleaning and cooking.
So, quiet now cobwebs go to sleep.
I'm nursing my baby, and babies don't keep.
