PHOTOS AND VIDEO
Although there are many competent amateur photographers (indeed, several will be present at the wedding, in the shape of family and friends), it is always advisable
to consider employing a professional. The photographs will be among your most important mementos of the big day.
Ask for recommendations from friends and relatives visit several studios and ask to see samples of their work. Compare costs. Discuss any special photographs you
would like taken before, during and after the ceremony and the style in which you would like them printed. Ask about styles and types of albums. Are miniature
albums available for both sets of parents?
Check with the Superintendent/Chief Registrar, Minister or proprietor of the approved premises as to what restrictions he or she imposes on the taking of photographs or
the presence of video cameras inside the church or premises.
It may be that your photographer can also make the video record, but not all photographers offer this facility. So once again, shop around and compare prices.
Ask your ushers to ensure that, when the official photographers are performing their task, the "family amateurs" do not interfere, get in the way or obstruct them.
Your local newspaper may welcome reports of "local weddings", with an accompanying photograph. Contact them in advance of the proposed wedding date, and ascertain their requirements. They may be prepared to send their own photographer and reporter, but it is more usual for them to issue a standard form for the bridal couple to complete and return to them, together with an appropriate photograph. So arrange for your photographer to have a suitable example available.
