What is everybody doing about their bridal make up?
I'm really battling to find a decent make up artist (don't want to end up looking like a band member from KISS) but I am too unsure of myself to do my own make up.
Are you gals having your make up done or doing it yourselves? If you are having a make up artist, how did you go about finding someone.
I did mine myself (which was a good thing in the end as I only had about 5 spare minutes!!)
I had a play with my CBM a week or so beforehand and we sorted out the general aim of the slap which really helped.
I also went to Max Factor in Boots where they do your make up and video it for you - that taught me several things of what not to do which is just as useful! It helped to talk it all through with a "pro" though, even if I've never managed to bring myself to watch the video!!

After lots of help our little born on 28th Jan 2008
when I kiss you goodnight I will
hold you a little tighter, a little longer. It is then, that I will thank
God for you, and ask him for nothing,
I was considering asking someone to do it for me professionally (was worried that if I had a blemish I wouldn't know how to cover it properly) but since I have been drinking lots of water I am not getting that many . So, I will probably do it myself if my skin stays nice to me (touch wood!!)
I'm sort of okay at putting on make-up, but I'm off to Estee Lauder tomorrow to get ideas for colours, etc. They'll probably try to sell all their stuff, but I don't think there's any obligation to buy, and I can see what suits me (am a bit of a sucker, though, so will probably end up paying a fortune!)
If you're confident-ish at putting it on, I would suggest this as a way forward...
I am doing it myself. I don't know why, but I really didn't like the idea of someone else doing it for me. I am really funny about the way I do my makeup!
It was also an excellent excuse for buying loads of new stuff! My makeup bag is all full of new shiny things!
I've briefly toyed with the idea of doing my own, but I am crap at everything other than blusher and lipstick!! (Way too short sighted to do eye-makeup.) Luckily, the hotel I'm leaving from has a beauty salon and hairdressers so I'm going to arrange a hair and makeup trial there and hopefully that will solve the problem

Hey, what a cool idea. We are viewing venues this weekend, so I'll look out for that!
I got mine done professionally, afterall, it's your one day to be pampered! I found my lady at a local wedding fair, and saw pictures of her work there. She came round and did a trial on all 3 of us that I had booked her for, and made notes so that on the day she knew exactly what she was doing!
It is really a personal thing though!

PS: Good luck with the venue hunting

I'm undecided on this at the moment, I'm a bit funny about people I don't know fiddling about with the way I look! But then I have to weigh that up against trusting myself to be calm enough to do it right on the day... A good friend of mine is studying to be a make-up artist, so maybe I can persuade her to help me out - that would be the best option for me. I guess the best ways of finding a professional are wedding fayres and recommendations - I reckon once you find someone you trust you'll be fine...
Mine is charging £60 for me, and £20 for anyone else. That is because she does a trial run on me.She uses good quality products such as lancome and MAC- and as I don't often wear make up it seemed a waste of money to buy new good quality stuff which I would never finish.
just a quick one -forget Estee Lauder, particularly in Debenhams Oxford, they're rubbish! They were late for my skincare appt, and then there was no-one there when I went for my makeover today. They didn't bother contacting me until nearly 2 hours later, and then they just said 'Well, it's your wedding makeover, so you should come back and have it done' - as if it might be my fault that there was no-one on their concession today! So I wouldn't bother with them, and instead I'm going to go to a salon and get someone to show me how to do it...
