We got the Allianz & Cornhill one (or whatever they are called). The basic package is £48 but we extended the cancellation cover to £7k which brought the price up to £93. Haven't needed to claim on anything yet but they are apparently very quick to respond to claims judging from comments about them on the Weddingguide UK forums.

If who cancels? You or the venue???

I haven't got this and wonder if I should........ it'd be sod's law if something went wrong cos I wasn't insured.........

That's what we thought - what's £50 in a wedding budget?

They all seemed much of a muchness so we went with WeddingPlan (who put leaflets in Magazines).

Say one of your parents got ill, or you broke your leg or your dress got stolen burnt whatever. It's all very far fetched until it happens and if you can claim to get something back then that sounds good to me!!

Luckily, we didn't need it!!

We didn't bother with it to be honest - all our arrangements were double checked a week before and then again 2 days before.

God, we were so slack - we completely forgot about wedding insurance

However, I think you're very wise to get it - if we got to do our wedding again, I think that Steve and I would definitely do it - just didn't even think about it at the time.

I thought about it, and thought about it, and then thought about it a bit more, then mentioned to Mark, "we should really get insurance", then suddenly the day was here, and we hadn't got it!!

Luckily nothing went wrong though! Definately a well spent £50 for peace of mind!

I've also been giving a lot of thought about whether to get insurance or not.

What exactly do the policies cover?

Different ones cover different things I think, although they are all roughly the same.

Here is the M&S one if you want to have a look, they seem to be more expensive than some others I have seen though.

Thanks for putting on those details Bianca-i've only just logged back on.

M&S cost us £54 but we reckoned it was worth the extra 3/4 quid for a name we knew-paranoid aren't I!!! I'm sure the others are just fine too........they were very quick-I've got all the details through today and only booked it on Sunday night!

Love Sarah xx

Sorry to be a negative on this subject, but I work in insurance and have so far been disappointed with all the policies I've received. I haven't looked at the M & S so I can't offer my opinon (but I'll definately have a lookl!), but the rest seem to be pretty pooh really! For example, one of them (I think it's A & P) has a picture of the photo negatives in the brochure which gives the impression that it will cover the full cost of the photography / cost of the photographer, but in actual fact covers you for nothing more than the cost of the actual film (which is about £3.50) !! I've been lookng through them and have to say please please look at the small print, the last thing you'll want if something happens is to find out that you weren't covered in the 'small print'.
On a more positive note, I think that insurance is a fantastic idea, especially if, like Lo says, you can protect yourself for about £50 - in the grand scheme of things it's not a lot really - probably less than 5% of the cost of the day!
When I find a good policy I'll be taking it out, put it that way!

Sory to be a grumpster
