Default Alterations - How much do they cost?

I need loads done to mine (train taking off and skirt shortened as I'm a short ass)

How much have you paid for your alterations? how much can I expect to pay?

I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;
Because children grow up while you're not looking,
There are years ahead for cleaning and cooking.
So, quiet now cobwebs go to sleep.
I'm nursing my baby, and babies don't keep.

£30...and the bridal shop will pay half. I was warned it could be a bit more expensive if bead work etc was affected but only by about a tenner.

Oh my god, is that all you're paying?? That sounds very reasonable, unlike mine I had my fitting yesterday and not much needs to be done. They were orginally going to take up the hem (would have been $100) but right before I left I said "is the waist tight enough?" and sure enough, it wasn't. They pulled it up and pinned it and I no longer needed to hem it, hurrah! It would have looked less good too because there's embroidery on the skirt and the hem would have come right up to it. I told them they could pull the skirt under my arm pits if need be, if it would save me money So instead they're going to move two tiny hooks to make the skirt tighter for the bargain price of $50! I've got a corset back on the bodice and the ties are very long, so she snipped them off and is going to sew them in to make spaghetti straps, that's $20. I'm having cups sewn in so I don't need a bra, $15. And the bustle is $50. So $135 total, for modifications I could do myself if I could sew and was brave enough.

I had my first appointment yesterday - some of you may already know that there has been a huge cock up with my dress, and it doesn't fit by about 4 inches!! But this woman was fab - she's basically remaking it for me, and I'm going back in a week or so and she'll have the bodice in pieces to make it around me. She has a lot of work to do on it but she reckons its only going to cost about $135AUS (about £50). Personally I think it will be much nearer £100 by the end, but for all the work she has to do to it I don't mind at all.
