Default Timings too close?

Was talking at work today about the Big Day, and I was explaining my timings and one of the girls was shocked at them - I'm trying to bear in mind that she is also the woman who said my venue was too far away and she didn't like beef in case it wasn't well done, but still....... these are they....

3.30pm wedding
4pm photos / drinks
5 - 5.30pm meal
Meal ends 8pm
Evening do begins immediately (8pm also)

Is this not normal? Am I supposed to leave an hour between the two or something? The hotel suggested these times cos I didn't want people hanging around.....

Nikki,

If the hotel says its fine, then its fine. They know about this stuff, and I was kind of in awe of our wedding coordinator at the hotel last night when we saw her for our main "pre-wedding planning meeting". Its a breeze to them and they have done these so many times that they know how long things will last.

To me they sound about right.

Hi Nikki

I wouldn't worry too much, our wedding ceremony was at 4.30pm, we had photos, drinks and catching up with people for an hour and a half and sat down to dinner at 6.30pm, the evening guests started arriving at 8pmish and it all went well, if a little too fast for my liking but then that's weddings.

So our time table was something like:

4.30pm wedding
6-6.30pm dinner
8-8.30pm dancing!

Don't worry too much about sticking to any timetable, things will flow!

Have you lots of guests Nikki? This could be the only hold up while taking photo's, ours took an hour and a half, and we only had 65 guests to the day!!!

Out timings went like this:

1pm - Get married
1.45pm - some photo's outside church
2.30pm - leave church
2.45pm - arrive venue
3pm - drinks and photo's
4.30 -6pm - dinner & speeches
6-7.30pm - "free" time
7.30pm - Evening reception begins.

the only way round the photo's is to prime your best man, give him the same list as the photographer and get him to organise the people well in advance!

Our best man was lousy so I ended up yelling orders while my heels were sinking into the gardens!! Made everyone smile though, typical Lo, bossy even on her wedding day

Nikki

Those times sound OK.

Mine was

2pm wedding
left church at 3pm
arrived at Scalford Hall 3.20pm
photos until 5pm
line up and sit down to meal 5.15pm
finished meal and speeches 7.30pm and evening guests arrived

Lo, youve just made me feel a whole lot better about our timing!! I was worried about getting married at 1pm but your timings sound like they worked fine and roughly what we were estimating. Thanks x
