Default Too early?

I have been thinking about the wedding day in general for the past few days and i have a couple of concerns. I might be worrying about nothing but i would like your opinions while i still have a chance to change things.

We have booked the church for 1pm and are intending for the evening guests to arrive at 7.30pmish. The thing im worried about is are we starting it too early? Im imagining we will be in the church itself till about 1.45, then messing around outside for a few piccies etc. The Runnymede is about 15/20 minutes away and this is where we are having the majority of the piccies done so im guessing that should take us to 3.30ish.

We are then having a sit down meal for 60 or so people but im not sure how long these take - if my other calculations are right its going to need to last between 3 and 3 and a half hours as they like a while to sort the room out for the evening.

Im wondering wether i should put it all back till 2pm - do you think that i should or will everything be ok  ?

God, if im worrying like this now, what will i be like in a few months time!!

I'd suggest you talk it through the with the coordinator at the hotel, see what they suggest. They know exactly how long these things take. It may be an idea to put it back to 2, but I'd go with the advice of the experts.

Good luck,
Jx

There's a co-incidence Paula - I'm worrying that I'm too late!!!!!

I'd second J and talk to your wedding person - they are very good! Also, if there is a gap, make it AFTER the meal instead of having everyone wait for HOURS before it - when I go to weddings and wait for hours to eat, I get horribly puddled, whereas after the meal is a good time to do your make up, relax with a drink etc....

I'd talk it through with the hotel as they organise these things all the time and should know the best timings to have.

I went to a wedding at the weekend. It was a civil ceremony in a hotel with the meal and the evening reception all in the same place. The ceremony was at 1pm and then there was time for photos and a drink or two. The meal started at 2.30 and lasted until about 5.30 with the speaches at the end. The evening do started at about 7.30 so there was plenty of time in between, maybe even a bit too much, to get changed, redo make up etc. Alot of the evening guests didn't arrive till about 8 so there was a bit of hanging around but it gave everyone a chance to have a good chat with people.

Thanks everyone, we will speak to the people at the Runnymede on Saturday and see what they think. I think it might be ok after reading Los response to Nikkis post about her timings being too late. She got married at 1pm too and her timing sounded good

Saved me answering then! Those timing worked perfectly for us, and the hotel are very good at "cutting corners" to save time! We were the only 2 in the receiving line, for 2 reasons, 1. it moved people through quicker, and 2. it would have been HUGE with step parents and parents etc etc! If you are having the traditional receiving line, add an extra half hour or so
