I thought I would come and tell you all how our wedding day went on Saturday. I am back at work now and tomorrow then jetting off to the Maldives for 12 days.
Where to start? I woke up at 6.30 because I was so excited. I had been to the pub for a quick few the night before, but luckily not enought to give me a hangover! I managed to get to the hotel for just past 12 to get my makeup done. I felt a little bit rushed because we were late, but I soon relaxed as the woman massaged my face and generally pampered me. Then hair - it took an hour to put my hair up. But it was worth it. I have got long hair and usually never put it up, but it looked amazing. It was put into a bun on top with a side sweeping fringe and a delicate crown on top. It sounds horrible - but I'll post some pics when I have them and I hope it looked nice. I felt a bit like Audrey Hepburn!
A gorgeous bouquet of flowers turned up when I was getting ready. My fella had bought me velvety dark red roses. The card nearly made me cry but I managed to hold it together.
After a few glasses of bubbly to steady my nerves, my dad escorted me down the stairs to greet everyone. Tim was standing at the bottom of the stairs and the first thing I saw was his huge grin. It felt a bit like the paparazzi had descended while everyone took photos.
Then off for the photos before the ceremony - it was a late ceremony at 5.30 so we had to take advantage of the light.
I went back up to touch up my makeup and when I came back down everyone was in the ceremony room. I saw a late comer and ushered her into the room before me, but at that moment the music started and the registrar announced the Bride! The poor girl looked mortified when she dashed into th back of the room!!
The ceremony was a blur. I remember trying not to cry and managing to hold the tears back - Tim was doing the same thing. I was so proud of him and I still nearly cry now thinking about how lovely the ceremony was. We haven't watched the video yet - so I can't wait to see that when we get back from the honeymoon. I remember hearing a lot of sniffles and sobs though!
Dinner was lovely - the rack of lamb settled my stomach. Then my dad started off the speeches with a presentation on an overhead projector! Lots of embarassing photos. He also told me that he loved me at the end of the speech - which he has never said to me before - that meant so much to me. Tim's speech was lovely and the two best men managed to behave themselves as much as possible. They did mention arses once too often though!
The cake was made by auntie Dot and decorated by Tim's mum with a little bit of help from me. It looked amazing - such a shame to have to cut it.
We were really late for the band, but when they finally got started they were fantastic. Mood Indigo from Nottingham, I thoroughly recommend them. They played Aint it a Kick in the Head by Dean Martin for our first dance - the words are very apt for the occaision. Then everyone got up and danced the whole night away to Sinatra, Nina Simone, etc. I even got a dance with my Dad - who never ever dances!
I stayed up until 3am but had to take my shoes off a while before that! I had the best day of my life. Tim and I talked all the way back for four hours in the car yesterday. The M1 has never been so much fun!
I can't wait to see the pictures and will post some here as soon as poss.
Thanks for all your help and support over the last few months - especially when all the hard work needed to be done. I'll be back in a couple of weeks and a few more freckles.
Lots of love,
Mrs Emily Jefferson!

Ilona - I forgot to say I wore the Permagrin TM all day. Everyone was asking if my cheeks were hurting and they were - but I wasn''t grinning cos I had to, but cos I wanted to. I have never smiled so much in my life.
