I have loads of people to recommend The majority of these suppliers are in South West England and will travel.

Exclusive Stationery
http://www.exclusivestationery.co.uk
Vanessa did an absolutely amazing job with our wedding stationery. All our guests commented on both the watercolour painting of Goldney and also the rose essential oil that she'd scented them all with She's a bit on the expensive side (although nowhere near as expensive as the Wren Press for example!) but the quality is astounding!

Pronuptia, Bristol
I really can't fault Pronuptia at all. My dress was ordered in the correct size and arrived exactly when they said it would! The alterations were fantastic and they pressed the dress beautifully. The suit order was completely problem free too. The staff are really friendly and sincere and I'll be nipping in with my albumn to show them my piccies

Top Hat Cakes
http://www.tophatcakes.co.uk
Dominic from THC is absolutely amazing. I gave him a sketch of how I wanted the cake to look and had a short chat with him and then our amazing cake arrived on the wedding day. No fuss at all. All I had to do was throw money at him The cake smelt, looked and tasted amazing

Claire Dibble, Harpist
0117 974 5275
Claire played the harp beautifully for us. We had a meeting with her at her house and she played lots of pieces for us so that we could decide on the ceremony music and then took down our favourite other pieces to play during the drinks reception. She dressed to complement the wedding colours too which I thought was a nice touch. All our guests loved her!

The Minerva Quartet
http://www.minervaquartet.mcmail.com/
The Minerva Quartet played through the wedding breakfast for us and created a really relaxed and fun atmosphere. We asked for a mix of show/musical tunes and some classical.

Wedding Wise Flowers
Alison and her team from Wedding Wise created beautiful flowers for us. My bouquet was a work of art and exactly what I wanted. They are very reasonably priced in comparison to other florists I looked at in Bristol.

Goldney Hall & Fosters Event Catering
http://www.goldneyhall.com & http://www.fostersevents.co.uk
Goldney Hall was an amazing place to get married. The Mahogany Parlour, where the ceremony was, is very atmospheric and the gardens are absolutely gorgeous. Its a very private venue as its hidden away behind a high wall which was nice. You couldn't hear any traffic!!

Fosters are the contracted caterers for Goldney Hall, so you have no option to bring in an outside caterer. We didn't mind this, as some friends of ours had used them for their wedding reception and we knew they were good. Their prices do look quite steep in comparison to other places we investigated but you get great value for money. The portion sizes are very generous and the food is gorgeous.

I'd highly recommend the following:

The Bridal Room, Hitchin, HERTS.

I got my wedding gown from here and they were soooooo wonderful! . If you're a nervous b2b about the whole dress shopping extravaganza...go here! I travelled almost 2 hours to get to this shop from home, and it was SO worth it!

The Tailors Cat, Cambridge.

Where I got my BM gowns. (They also have a Bridal shop in Saffron Waldon). The Cambridge shop is like a little alladin's cave of anything girly and sequinned! The downstairs is the changing area and houses thier BM gown collections. They do JimHelm and Lazaro, Consortium and other names of great dresses you prob. wont have heard of. ly things and very friendly service. Everyone here was so nice.

Top Sounds Disco (also East Anglian Entertainments), Bury St Eds, Suffolk.

The guy that runs this (John) is so nice! He was the only DJ that answered my messages and seemed genuinly interested in offering a personal service to what WE wanted for our eveing disco They set up before we arrived ont he day - so no 'sound checks' and was great!

Martin Beard Photography, Bury St Eds, Suffolk.

This man is BRILLIANT!!!!!! We wanted reportage style pics (and mostly b/w) and we got a wonderful set of pictures - infact we havent chosen ours yet as it's too difficult! We have 233+ to sift through and they're all great reminders of the day - more like a diary of the day...so we want them all!
He was a pleasure to work with - not pushy at all, and blended in with the guests a dream. He's also a really nice guy, which of course helps too! He's got a great eye for detail and you can trust he take the best photos of the day, so you can leave it all to him - we did and are soooooo pleased.

Castlemoon Creations for your invitations, centrepieces, seating plans, order of service, thank you cards, gift baskets for mothers, bridesmaids, ushers...........you name it, they shall do it. YOU decide your budget, THEY fit their work in around it. Two of the most sincere people I have EVER met. Can't fault them in the slightest. PM or E-mail me if you want contact details..........

Oh and steer clear of Shieldhill Castle in Biggar, Scotland. Wouldn't let us taste the wine we were ordering for our reception unless we could make it to a winetasting evening they were having when we were on holiday........cheapest bottle of wine was £30 a bottle and they wanted us to order 25 without tasting it!!!! Also, wouldn't give us a choice on the menu, it was either beef or chicken. Ended up moving our wedding venue AND CHANGING THE WEDDING DATE 6 MONTHS BEFORE THE BIG DAY! Got married in Barony Castle in Peebles. Couldn't fault them for a second. Absolutely FIRST CLASS service..........apart from the coachload of American tourists who helped themselves to our buffet in the evening!!!!!!! 17 months on and I'm STILL fuming!

i can recommend County Video who did my friend's wedding. Their work is excellent and they are competitvely priced. They will travel almost anywhere at no cost to you.

For anyone in Shropshire - I can recommend http://www.shropshirebrides.co.uk/ for dresses. The staff are absolutely brilliant.

I also want to recommend Debenhams in Telford (Shropshire) for their jewellery and the mens' suits.

And then theres Cake Craft in Shawbury Telford (Shropshire) - the woman is very friendly, reasonably priced and her cakes are luuuuurvely

Anyone in Shropshire again my very friendly and very reasonably priced photographer - http://www.bcphotography.co.uk/

I can really recommend Curly Wurly Creations for tiaras. Mine arrived on Tuesday (I only ordered the Wednesday before) and it's gorgeous

Claire who runs it couldn't have been more helpful and was so prompt with everything.

I'd just like to recommend Brides of Sussex in Bognor Regis. They were fantastic and made me feel so special. I had a wonderful time trying on lots of dresses and they did everything to help me. The owner Tracey is lovely and made my afternoon wonderful. I was a bit nervous beforehand as I had a horrid experience in another shop but they put me at ease and it was just so fantastic.

I'd definately recommend them to anyone.

I really can't agree more with Teresa, Brides of Sussex is lovely. They made me feel very welcome and special and even had some samples in sensible sizes.

There is another bridal shop in the high street, can't remember what it is called, but it has a part called the grooms room and is upstairs! This is run by Tracey's daughter and is lovely as well. The 2 shops seem to operate in quite a flexible way, I think the original plan was for mum to have the more expensive gowns, while daughter had the cheaper end of the range, and off the peg stuff. But they seem to chop and change a bit. If you see a dress you like in one of the shops and another you like in the other, they will take one to the other shop so you can compare easily.

They also have the benefit of some dresses that can be bought off the peg in a wide range of sizes (up to about a 30). A friend ended up buying her bridesmaids dresses there, and saved considerably on the prices charged in a posh shop in Chichester were the service was poor!

I went to that shop in Chichester too and it was horrid. Very posh and lots of nice dresses but they were horrid.

Lousie where do you live?? Where are you getting married? You sounds like you could be quite near me. I live in Bournemouth but my parents are in Bognor and thats were I'm getting married.

I would like to name and praise

www.rebeccarode.com

I ordered my dress from them about 3 months ago and it arrived today. It was wrapped beatifully and is perfect. The dress cost £900 in the uk, and i was told that it would take 7 months. It arrived in about 3 and cost about £400 including postage and tax!

the staff at rebecca rode could not have been more helpful, they replied to my e-mails within a few hours and i spoke to them several times on the phone (they rang me!). I was given a tracking number once it was dispached so i could see its progress across the states to here.

Question Rebecca Rode

Hi Louise,

I am a new member, and I just saw your note on Rebecca rode, I found their website at the weekend and as you can understand, i am a little bit apprehensive of ordering on line, but would love the discount, was hoping you'd be able to re-assure me!!!

By the way, are you Mrs 'Kiwi' yet??? or is the big day still to come.

thanks

Oll

I would like to praise my reception venue, i had the reception at the vitra cafe in goodwood motor circuit. I was expecting it to be a ridiculous price because of the goodwood link (just look at the website for the reception prices at the house!) but it worked out at about £20 a head for canapes, a hot buffet with 3 choices and some very luxurious desserts. We also had cheese and bread later in the evening included. Marco who runs the place, was very flexible and I was able to have exactly what i wanted. He isn't great at getting paperwork to you swiftly, but he really came up trumps with the food, venue and service, It was great

I would recommend to Staffordshire "brides and grooms to be", Slaters in Baldwins Gate, Newcastle Under Lyme as a redeption venue. They are the most friendly people we encountered, in a lovely country setting, and appear ready to go the extra mile for a personal service. The roaring fire sold it to me.....perfect for our winter wedding.

The most positive thing so far is that we have made a couple of spontaneous visits as we were passing and they have still managed to find time for us, and we felt they had nothing to hide.

All I need now is to find entertainment that we a) Want and b) Can Afford.

Has anybody ordered a dress from Rebecca Rode? I ordered mine over 5 months ago and they have told me that it will be delayed until April which is just weeks before my wedding!

If anybody can reassure me that it will arrive, it would be greatly appreciated!

Mother of the Bride Shop

My mum got her outfit today from this place, and they were the lovliest, most helpful people, with an amazing selection in all sizes, lovely comfy chairs and sofas for my dad and me to sit in, and even a cocker spaniel wandering round called Charlie. It was a lovely environment and I would highly highly recommend it. (lots of parking too)

SHOES! www.soulcreations.co.uk

I bought my shoes the best part of 2 years ago and they've been sitting in the boxes ever since our big day. They are delicately decorated with swarovski crystals and because the bottom of my fishtail was so heavy it took some of them off. I emailed them a few weeks ago & asked how much a repair would be & they told me to send them back for inspection.
On receipt they told me they do the re-jeweling for free!
They since arrived back as good as new so I can wear them again

TOP MARKS to the lovely laydeez at SOUL CREATIONS xx

Default Wedding at Nether Winchendon

Hi Mememe

I am getting married at Nether Winchendon next year, and I was wondering whether you could share some of your wedding pictures? Would love to see how you have decorated the venue. tx

Hi Sandie

to Groovy.

Unfortunately Mememe only posted that one thread, which was in 2005...

We are a friendly bunch though, so someone else might be able to help.
