Default Not buying ANYMORE wedding mags!!!

That\'s my lot! I bought Cosmo Bride (whatever its called) today as it had a hair feature, and as you all know I haven\'t a clue what I\'m after. I had also heard about this mag on Hitched, where people rave about it so was quite excited to see it here in Oz.

Except that it is even worse than all the others! I mean - nice articles (but lets face it, wedding mags are like b2b porn - we only look at the pictures! ) and lots of info, beautiful pics of accessories, stationery etc - but all geared to women spending fortunes on their weddings. Cheapest shoes - £90, and they were at least £150 cheaper than the next cheapest featured. Hair clip with beady stuff - £120!!!! :o Tiaras - £250 upwards.

EVERYTHING was expensive. And the features and planners were only of any use to your average £20G wedding.

All this is fine, but what are the rest of us supposed to do? Maybe it\'s just because I don\'t have access to as many mags as I would in the UK, so if someone can tell me of a mag that caters for all, and features things which are more on the affordable side I\'d love to know of them. Because I sure as hell can\'t find one here. :(

To give you an idea a woman wrote into the advice column, which is written by a pro wedding planner, to say that she was on a budget (£1500 for meal and cake)and what should she do. Advice - have the reception at home. Now sorry, but I\'m having my 4 course meal, cake, and wine /champers for 50 people for less than that!! But this \'professional\' was not interested in really helping at all. ARRGGHH!!!!

I think we should start our own magazine - Weddings For REAL Brides. :D

anyway, rant over. :D

Totally agree on bridal magazines - I remember when we first started planning this wedding I bought about 4 in one month (I think I had to extend my overdraft to buy them all!!!):lol::lol: But they all have exactly the same stuff in it.

Go for it Bev - we need a \'Real Brides\' mag!!

Kate :D

I agree. They seem to aim for the wedding costing double ot triple figures. I am not having a wedding dress but admit I have bought 2 mags in the past and like you say they are porn for B2B\'s!!!

Wast of money in my opinion and full of over expensive adverts!!

Bah

I thought I was the only person guilty of being addicted to wedding mags. But I see I am not alone. I have vowed not to buy anymore( I have half forest of them sat in my bedroom), the problem is that I can\'t help myself, when I see a new mag in the newsagents I feel drawn to them.I will also admit that I started buying them in January and I didn\'t get engaged until July!!!:D
I agree that they are full of the same stuff all the time, my favorite is Weddding Day as it has the most real weddings which I have found are the best way to find ideas. I definatly think the idea of a real bridal mag on line so we can share our bargin finds etc is a good ideas Cheers Jess
