Default Mother of the Bride

I have just found out that my mum hasn't even started looking for an outfit for the wedding!

Plus she's completely unsure of what to wear - she's more a tracksuit kinda gal. She's early 50's, quite petite (about a 14) and hates anything around her neck. Anyone got any ideas where she can start looking? What she should wear? She won't wear a hat and doesn't look great in suits - they drown her as she's so little.

I'd love to help her shop - but I'm struggling to get everything else sorted before the wedding and she's 70 miles away.....

Debenhams is a good place to start, especially the big stores as there is a lot of choice under one roof.

Same goes for John Lewis and House of Fraser.

My mum had the same problem and didnt want "traditional" MOB outfit and she ended up with a dress and accesories from Debenhams and hat from JL and looked a million dollars

My mum is pretty small too (only 5ft 2 and a size 12/14) so she struggled finding something to wear. Any suits she tried on just swamped her so she ended up getting a long dress and then had the dressmaker who was altering the bridesmaid dresses make her a long coat for the day time and a matching wrap for the evening. She looked stunning! Its not a great piccy though as it was just one a friend took in the church.

What about a two piece outfit - bodice and skirt? That should flatter her petite figure. N EXT normally does a good petite range of outfits? She could always have a look and if she found something team it with accessories from another shop? That way there's less risk of someone turning up in the same outfit

Some of the larger M&S's have some very nice ranges, 2 of my mum's original choices came from there!
