Question Dress transportation!

Help! I've asked BA about transporting my (rather large) dress to New York. I can't take it on board as there is not enough cabin storage (though I could if I was flying 1st class!). I can't pack it in my case with my other clothes as it's too big. They have suggested I pack it in a seperate case (allowance is 2 bags per person so that's okay). I'm a wreck! What if they lose the case! Have any other Groovers transported a dress like this and were you nervous about it? Am I just being over anxious? Should I put all my wedding stuff in the case, i.e. shoes, tiara etc?

I would be worried too but i bet that hardly any baggage goes missing in the grand scheme of things, you only hear when it goes wrong. To be safe tho i would probably split the wedding stuff in separate cases, thats what i do when ever i travel so that there is a bit of everyones clothes in each case.

No advice, but

The other thing to consider is to courier it to the hotel in advance - but that's not cheap!

If you're flying with BA they sometimes upgrade people on their Honeymoon to 1st class. This happened with us but only on the way back on all 3 occasions. If you get to check-in early I'd ask and be cheeky - it may work!!!!

Have a word with Mrs F or Jill. Both got married overseas so might be able to help.

I just packed mine in a normal suit case and crossed my fingers!! We flew V irgi n, and thankfully all arrived safely. My drs was quite a small one though. I guess you have to smile and hope you get an upgrade, or hope and prey it gets there. Sorry, not much use.

I carried mine onboard and they hung it up for me. We flew Air Mauritius and they couldnt have been nicer. they also hung up Craigs uniform for him. There was also 2 other brides on the plane and they did the same for them.

If they wont allow you to carry on board, just fold it really carefully in and place in a suit carrier and then put it in a case. when you are checking in, just ask if theres any chance you can take it on board with you. If its women on the check in desk they might soften!!

Hehe thanks Mrs F. We have a full kilt hire to take too and were thinking of packing it all into one separate case, I'll just have to live with it unless they upgrade us to 1st class!
