As long as it's not totally identical then I think you can get away with it

I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;
Because children grow up while you're not looking,
There are years ahead for cleaning and cooking.
So, quiet now cobwebs go to sleep.
I'm nursing my baby, and babies don't keep.

I know in the big world of fashion there is a "minimum" number of differences that have to be there so as to not cause a problem! (I think it might be 7 or 11)

I knew I should have paid more attention to GMTV or was it LK Today

The type of things they were talking about were the high street "versions" of catwalk stuff, and the dress they showed was things like, different material, different style straps, slightly different colour combination, more floaty skirt compared to the other etc etc

I saw bridesmaid dresses I liked and then had some similar ones made because they didn't have them long enough for my sister in law.

The dressmaker insisted on them being slightly different, so I had it made of silk and organza instead of just silk, the straps were thicker and of a different material, and the flowers on the straps were different too. As they were made to measure, the shape on each was different too if that makes sense?

Not sure what the minimum number of differences is, but the dressmaker seemed happy with these.

I should ask Nicola, whose wedding dress was surprisingly similar to a V era W ang design as I recall, yet made entirely by her mum.....

Bron girl, if that was me (and I had the ability) I would not legalities even enter into my head. What's going to happen really? Mr Gucci (et al) going to sue you for your chickens?

However, if the clothes are for sale in a public place (ie not to mates on the side), then small changes would be needed.

Oh the machine is here for your taking! Know of anyway of getting to yours?

Mine was indeed a Vera Wang, but it was a Vogue pattern, so we were paying a lot for the privilege (about £13 I think). I have no idea about number of differences though. Sorry. Though assuming you are not going to be making loads and selling them, would it matter?

Nicola

Oh two different things sorry
a friend found a wedding dress she liked and was thinking about copying it
and the vera wang comment reminded me to nab those patterns
Thanks Jac. Maybe if we all do make it to the zoo you could chuck it in dawnies car, no rush anyway
