Do you think it would be suitable for my University graduation in July? or too dressy? obviously i would wear it out afterwards too although i dont know if we are going to the official graduation ball or just out for dinner.. What do you think? too dressy??
I love getting dressed up though.. and at the end of the day i am going to spend my career wearing tracksuits/gym gear therefore i might as well take the opportunity while i can!!
its from Next, and i think its roughly knee length.. xx
I do like it, but I am not sure what the current regulations are for graduation outfits. I seem to remember QUB had some limitations on the amount of knee showing, etc - but as that's 16 years ago I'm sure things have moved on completely!
It is nice though
Its a lovely dress and if the rules are quite relaxed at your uni then I'd go for it.
I know that for my graduation (10 years ago this summer, OMG!!) we had to wear a black dress or a white blouse with black skirt or black dressy trousers, not sure if other unis are as strict though.
You can always get changed into it for the evening do even if it turns out not to be suitable for the graduation ceremony.
At my graduation ten years ago most people wore suits. I didn't though. I wore 6 inch heels which tied round the ankle, a fitted lilac skirt 4 inches above the knee and a fitted sleeveless white body top with a lilac flower on the front. It was really really hot and I was SO pleased I wore what I did.
When I went to graduation last summer there was quite a range of outfits, and I think this dress will be just fine! In fact, I think it's lovely. When I go to graduation this year I shall be wearing a black and cream flowery knee length dress. The only thing you will need is a pin though, as there's no buttons to hook the hood bit of your gown on to.
Megan i really like it. Another one here who had to wear a suit and blouse for gradding, when I do my masters though I am going to take advantage and buy a new frock!
Well, the dress arrived as as lovely as it is on the hanger and on the model, it just doesnt suit me. its kind of a weird shape. i ordered a 12 and a 14, cos even though i have lost weight i am still busty, so i thought i would need hte 14.. well it was HUGE! the 12 was a little snug in the bust but still totally gaping around the stomach and hips, it kind of hangs funny, its cut weird or something. anyway it wasnt too bad i liked it and thought i might get my mum to alter it around the tummy a bit, but i showed andy and his face said it all, he hated it!!!! So its getting sent back... shame, cos its a nice dress but just does not suit me!! ah well the hunt is back on.. xx
