Karen . . . do not surcome to the dark side of the force . . . ;) :D

Just kidding. How about trying one on when you go for your dress fittings? I\'ve heard many people say that they didn\'t want them, then tried them on and thought they were the bees knees. H2B stuck one on my head in the wedding store and nearly pissed himself with laughter, I looked like a right pillock. :P Needless to say it was not the look I\'m after for the big day. ;)

Well, I have never looked or felt as stupid as I did when I tried a veil on...I would much rather not bother and have flowers in my hair instead of a tiara. I have very short hair (about an inch long) so a tiara wouldn't really make much impression - would love a lily behind my ear or something, but haven't seen that many inspiring flowers for heads around...any ideas? Would also like feathers...

no veil for me thanks, I made a crack at one of my dress fittings about it being a bit late for the "virgin bride thing" at this stage inthe game. everyone present nearly bust a gut laughing, of course it didn't help that at that moment the dressmaker had attached my seven foot train which she had stuffed with a bit of crinoline to "give it body" I took one look in the mirror and nearly colapsed in hysarics! It looked like I had just passed gas! there was this huge white sausage link attached to my ass, and Rita(the dressmaker) was shaking it out to try and make it lie flat.
I could see the headlines:
"Bride takes flight powered by her own wind!"
too funny.
to me the veil thing is nice on other people but not for me.

I wasn't going to have a veil - just wanted a small tiara with my hair down. Went to try dresses on last week and tried on a tiara with a cathedral length veil - it looked perfect. So I think it will be hair up with tiara and veil.

I'm definatley not going for the veil, and wasn't going to have a tiara BUT I tried one on at a Bridal Fayre and it looked stunning!!

When I went to order my dress I found the perfect tiara too...... it's got ivory roses, green leaves and emerald coloured stones, PERFECT!

My first thought was to not have a veil and tiara, but when I was trying on my dress, the veil completed the whole look. So I will be ordering one very shortly.

Now to decide what kind of veil to go for!

I'm not sure yet. I think I probably won't bother but like Lis and Bev said, I might feel completey different come the first fitting!

I can't decide either.

It isn't my first wedding, but it is the first time H2B has been married so we are having a church ceremony.

My kids and his daughter were all aching to be totally involved, so we are having them as bridesmaids. Therefore, I have had to go for a 'proper' dress to fit in with them all, and I already feel OTT and a bit of a fraud. I think that a veil will be even more OTT.

However, everyone that has seen my dress on says that I need a veil to complete the look.

AArrrrggghhhhhh!!!

I definitely was not going to wear a veil, though I tried a cathedral length one on with my dress and I really felt like a bride. In fact, I can't think of NOT wearing one now!!!
