Hi Rachael

Its ly Are you wearing a veil?

Heres a picture of one I liked (unfortunately I've found out its £2000 - which is way over my budget!)

I've tried on another I like but I haven't got a picture of that.

Hi Lis,

Not sure about a veil yet, will think about that at first fitting which is in May. I am not sure though, I don't want to disappear under a mass of netting as the dress itself is quite floaty.

My hairdresser was talking about putting flowers through my hair on the day though which I think could look great!

Your dress is gorgeous, shame about the price though. 'Tis all quite extortionate when you think about it, isn't it?

Rachael, that's so elegant!! Beeeeoootiful!!

And Lis, I'm sure you could find something similar for much less money, or maybe you should find something comp[letely different so you're not always thinking about the one that got away!!!

Roz

You're probably right. I did try one on last week which was nothing like the picture and I really liked (and my Mum cried at!).

Absolutely better not to know! It'll all be worth it in the end though. I am hoping I can get it dyed afterwards (I'll take the sleeves off as I know they can't be) so that I can wear it again to any posh do's I have to go to.

Not that I have ever been to any posh evenings but there is always a first time!

So what is your other dress like? Pretty similar? I love that shade of gold.

That'd be great if you could wear it again.

Actually, its nothing like that one at all apart from the fact its strapless.

Its an ivory fitted strapless bodice with an a-line skirt. There is gold stitching and tiny little beads on the bodice and on a band going around the bottom of the skirt. Its got lacing up the back of the bodice and I tried it on with a small tiara and catherdral length train.

It did look gorgeous (although it didn't look like me - I'm more a jeans and jumper person!)

Martin's going to get a shock when he sees me looking girly

Sounds lovely.

It was really wierd the first time I tried on wedding dresses, I am more a jeans and jumper person too.

Yes I'm Lisa really but most people call me Lis or Lu (not really sure where Lu came from though!)

I think my Dad is going to have the biggest shock on the day - I don't think hes seen me in a dress since I was little. My mum reckons his going to all day - that'll make two of us then!

I think everyone is bound to be a bit emotional. He'll probably think you look great and wonder why you don;t wear dress more often! Mine probably will too though I am not sure what he will think of the dress. He is already a bit baffled as I am having a church wedding when I have sworn for years that I wouldn't. What he'll think when he sees the traditional dress I don't know!

Rachael - thats a lovely dress, I was after something quite similar when I started dress hunting. Except that I was promptly informed that they dont do sleeves in Brisbane.

And Lis, I agree - many of the dresses I've seen all are very similar - I'm sure you could get something like that for a much more reasonable price. People think we're made of money, don't they.

Why don't they do sleeves in Brisbane? I would quite like mine without the sleeves I think though they get in the way a lot less than I thought they would.

It's the tropical climate - it's just so hot here all year round (even in winter!) that there's no demand for it. I was told that if I bought the dress down South in Melbourne for instance I'd have no problem, as they don't have the best weather down there. But if you were getting married in 90-100 degree heat you'd melt with sleeves! :eek3:

True, whereas my sleeves might not be enough to cope with the brisk wind that will probably be blowing off the firth of forth!
